July 27th: Creating Kingdom Significance with Your Primary Gift

Scripture Focus: Matthew 5:14-16

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father." — Matthew 5:14-16 (NABRE)

Over the last three weeks, we’ve walked through the entire lifecycle of a God-given gift. We’ve established what your primary gift is and how it functions (Week 1), how the enemy tries to distort its source, use, and purpose (Week 2), and how he tries to diminish it entirely through suppression and shame (Week 3).

We’ve done the hard work of clearing the distortion and developing what was once diminished.

Now, the question is: how do you use it to its full ability?

How do you move from simply having a gift to creating Kingdom significance with it? Significance isn't about the size of your platform; it's about the degree to which your gift — used in the specific way God designed it — glorifies the Father.

1. Go Deeper in the Word

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." (Proverbs 9:10)

Getting to know God better will better help you understand how He created you to operate in your gifts. God pours into us gracefully to our gifts, and that pouring happens most consistently when we are grounded in His Word.

If you want to create Kingdom significance, you have to stop relying on your own human understanding of your gift and start looking at it through the lens of Scripture. Here is what going deeper in the Word looks like for each gift profile:

• Judges: Prioritize more time in stillness and solitude, listening. Your gift of perception requires a quiet heart to distinguish between your own judgment and God’s discernment. Study the lives and words of the prophets to understand how they managed the weight of perception and stayed faithful to God’s message.
• Professors: Increase your time reading, learning, and reflecting. Immerse yourself in the teachings of Jesus and the Epistles regarding spiritual maturity and discipleship; your goal is not just to know, but to become a mature disciple who makes disciples.
• Coaches: Increase your time developing in encouraging ways — through podcasts, mentorship, and specific study of Scripture related to exhortation. Your words carry power; make sure they are rooted in His promises.
• CEOs: Seek out wise mentors and study Scripture about leaders (Nehemiah, Joseph, David). Pray for God to mentor you through prayer, and to help you find wise human mentors who will support you as you develop in your leadership.
• Consolers: Immerse yourself in Scripture related to mercy. You need your own places to process suffering so that you can reflect God’s mercy to others without becoming overwhelmed by it.
• Stewards: Study Scripture related to stewardship and support with allocation. Pray specifically over detachment from assets — remember that you are the conduit, not the reservoir.
• Taskmasters: Look to Scripture related to executing and owning the posture of a servant. Your gift must be rooted in a heart that loves to serve the Lord through serving your neighbor. Balance your execution with time in prayer and community regarding the work you are doing.

2. Stop Waiting for a Sign

One of the biggest obstacles to Kingdom significance is the "waiting for a sign" trap. We tell ourselves we’re being "spiritually discerning," but often we’re just being stagnant.

Signs usually come when we are already actively moving in a good, orderly direction.

If God has given you a vision already, act accordingly.

If you are unsure, start moving in a direction you think is good, and trust Him to order your steps and guide your path.

NOTE: Sometimes God isn’t telling you which way to go because both paths are good! He has given you the gifts, the wisdom, and the freedom to move.

Trust that if you are moving in obedience, He will steer your steps.

3. Use Your Other Gifts Accordingly

To reach full maturity in your primary gift, you have to learn how to direct your other six gifts to serve it. We call this "alignment," and it looks different depending on your primary profile:

If your primary gift is Judge, Professor, or Coach:
You already know how to speak. Your growth area is focusing on the moves you can make NOW: taking action in alignment, managing assets, and paying attention to what moves your heart.

• Judges: Ensure you are leaning into learning and gaining practical info and encouraging others as you share your discernment. Don’t just rely on your sense of things "in the spirit."
• Professors: Don’t just rely on your knowledge and mentorship. Seek discernment and exhort others as you teach.
• Coaches: You must slow down and use discernment and research ideas to increase the maturity and wisdom in your transformational advice.

If your primary gift is Consoler, Steward, or Taskmaster:
You’re great at focusing on making moves and getting things handled "in the moment." Your growth area is focusing on zooming out on the bigger picture and planning accordingly — and then communicating that plan with others!

• Consolers: Make sure you are using your "Judge" gift to ensure your time and energy are focused in the most beneficial places. Ensure you’re getting things done and closing loops.
• Stewards: Don’t get so focused on the resources and assets that you forget to execute and do what alleviates suffering and brings love to others.
• Taskmasters: The checklist isn’t the most important thing to many. Make sure you’re focusing on using the right assets for the right reasons to make progress in a kind and caring way.

And for the CEO gift:
You get to ensure you’re truly spending time developing your own ability to teach, encourage, console, discern, allocate, and execute — so you can continue to lead and inspire those around you more effectively.

The lampstand was never about the lamp. It was about the light.

When we clear the distortion, start developing, and align our subordinate gifts to serve our primary design, we finally stop fighting against the way we were made.

We stop trying to be the source and we become the resources God created us to be!

Kingdom significance is found in that quiet moment of surrender where we say, "Lord, this gift is Yours. The placement is Yours. The results are Yours."

When we move in that kind of obedience, the light doesn't just shine — it illuminates the path for everyone else along the way.

1. Kingdom Significance starts in the Word. The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. You cannot create significance with a gift you are trying to understand through human eyes alone. Every gift profile has a specific way they are called to "go deeper" — whether it's the Judge in solitude or the Steward in detachment.

2. Stop waiting for a sign. Signs usually come when we are already moving in a good, orderly direction. If God has given you a vision, act on it. If you're unsure, pick a good path and trust Him to order your steps. Remember the equation: Gifts + Obedience + Wisdom = Success.

3. Mature gifts require alignment. To use your primary gift at its highest level, you must direct your other six gifts to serve it. Speakers (Judges, Professors, Coaches) must learn to take practical action; Doers (Consolers, Stewards, Taskmasters) must learn to zoom out and plan. When we align our design, we stop fighting ourselves and start serving the Kingdom.

The lampstand isn't about the lamp; it's about the light. When we surrender the placement and the results to Him, our gifts finally do what they were always meant to do: glorify the Father.
